Professor Emerita Dorothy M. Vislocky formed the Hunter College Dance Company in 1963. She conceived and developed the curriculum for the dance major program, emphasizing creative aspects of choreographing and performing. She directed the program from 1972 to 1986 and taught courses in creative process and anatomy and kinesiology. An original member of the Alwin Nikolais Dance Company from 1952 to 1962, she choreographed and directed the Dorothy Vislocky Dance Theater from 1963 to 1984.

 

Professor Emeritus, Jana Feinman served as Director of the Dance Program from 1992 - 2015. She conceived of and produced six Sharing the Legacy programs from 2002 - 2011. For these NEA funded events, Hunter College students were joined by other schools from around the country in workshops, discussions and performing master works of modern dance.
